Clematis florida var flore-pleno [florida 'Alba Plena']
Greenish white to white fully double flowers with a large central boss of similarly coloured staminodes. Magnus Johnson gives this as synonymous with 'Atragène des Indes' which was introduced from Japan c1776. The International Clematis Register and Checklist 2002 disagrees with the synonymy and suggests that it was imported from Japan in about 1835.
