International Survey

Clematis on the Web, with the assistance of the University of Hull, is undertaking a major international survey of clematis. This survey seeks to gather accurate information about all clematis in cultivation around the world at the beginning of the 21st century.

The survey will attempt to establish what species and cultivars grow well in which countries; what range of climatic conditions they will tolerate, what diseases (if any) they are prone to, their flowering characteristics in each country, and so on....

The survey is not a popularity poll. Its intention is to gather reliable information about clematis in cultivation today. Ultimately, the facts will be presented and it will be up to the reader to decide which clematis should be in their collection.

The survey will take a number of years to complete and will involve many people from around the world. Some will be members of the various national and international clematis societies, but all clematis enthusiasts are welcome to contribute through this website.
